On the 15th of Februrary, one day after the most romantic day of the year, Stewart, with the help of our website constructed a completely original and truly post-modern take on a marriage proposal to his long-time girlfriend.

Using an online ‘menu’ he created for a fictional restaurant, Stewart directed his girlfriend to the Delivery Hero website and asked her to check out some new place which had just been listed- then she had to choose from a number of romantic gestures with the final question being the big one…
YES. or NO.

She made her choice and Stewart was left waiting, until the order was received in the Customer Care office here at D.H Headquarters.  And there it was. The answer Stewart had been waiting for- YES!

As you can imagine, in the Delivery Hero office, we’re a little obsessed with food. These borderline fanatical tendencies mean that no-one holds back. Seriously. There are huge debates about which dish is the ultimate – is it Pad Thai or a simple oven-fired Marguerita pizza with a hand-made crust? Opinions fly hard and fast, and everyone gets a little bit passionate about championing their local.

Love it or hate it, Valentine’s Day is upon us. Even if you’re against it on the basis of it being a commercial day, it might well be that your partner is still secretly expecting something for the occasion, in which case it’s probably better to plan something rather than disappoint!

Traditional ideas for the day include booking a table at your favourite restaurant and enjoying a delicious Valentine’s Day meal in an intimate environment. This is a great idea in theory, however the reality is that the best restaurants are often booked up months in advance. If you do succeed in nabbing a table, it’s likely to be so packed, you’ll be bashing elbows with the couple on the next table. If you’re a Bollywood fan, Mantra Indian Restaurant in Ryde is well worth the trek. Step through the unassuming door into a world of vibrant colour. It’s a celebration of the beautiful and the kitsch where movie posters of Bollywood legends adorn the walls, complete with sparkling and bejewelled fabric. Mantra Indian Restaurant is a sensory overload – and that’s before you’ve even sat down and taken a peek at the menu.

The food here is light and delicious with a range of regional options for meat eaters and vegetarians. If you can’t decide on one entrée, then order the mixed entrée for two which gives you a taste of a few things including samosas, Aloo Tikki (lightly spiced potato patties), and Seekh Kebab (minced lamb kebab). If you’re looking for a delicious beverage to pair with your food delivery, it’s hard to beat an ice cold glass of sangria. The best sangria is extremely versatile -if you include a few basic ingredients, you can customise your sangria to suit your own taste.  In Spain and Portugal, you’ll find it in every bar, though the best sangria is usually made at home or served at house parties in a large punch bowl with a wooden ladle. Try making it at home or ordering from a fine restaurant. But whatever you do, don’t buy the pre-mixed varieties -it just won’t taste the same as freshly made.
