The Avengers Eat Shawarma – What would Spiderman Eat?

By now you’ve probably heard-of or seen The Avengers movie, Disney’s (via Marvel) newest multi-plex juggernaut based on a team of the world’s greatest superheroes defending the earth from an otherworldy evil. The film has thrilled audiences with a mix of action, pop-culture references and off-beat humour – none moreso than the ‘hidden’ post-credits scene that see The Avengers munching on Shawarma after defeating hoardes of crazed intergalactic demons – as you do!

That gave the team at Delivery Hero a thought – what would other superheroes eat to replenish after dispatching an arch-villain? Read on to find out…

Spiderman    Let’s see. He’s a teenager, he rushes around corners all day and he wears a red & blue outfit. If I didn’t know any better I would guess that Peter Parker was born to be a pizza-delivery guy. After webslinging the bad-guys out of the picture I can just see Spider-Man chilling out with a few slices of Super Supreme Pizza and a side of Garlic Bread.

Wolverine    Apart from the fact that he always has cutlery on-hand, Wolverine is a hard-living, heavy eating kind of guy. He works hard, he plays hard and he definitely needs to fill up on steak when he’s done doing what he does best. Make it a Sirloin Steak with a side of Creamy Mash and Peppercorn Sauce.

 Spiderman: Super Supreme

Wonder-Woman    This one is a no-brainer. An Amazonian princess with a magical whip [Ed: pun removed], Wonder Woman lives healthy and eats healthy. I’m thinking plenty of greens and some protein – which leads me to believe that Wonder Woman is absolutely a Chicken Caesar Salad fan.

Superman    I have a feeling that with all that Kryptonite stuff threatening to destroy his superhuman strength, Superman doesn’t really want anything green on his plate. He also has a stomach of steel, so we’re going to go with the hottest of the hot here – a fiery Beef Vindaloo Curry should hit the spot.

Batman: Sushi Deluxe

Batman   Dark. Brooding. Mysterious. This guys needs to lighten up – and maybe that’s why I get the feeling that he indulges the lighter side of his persona with a plate of Sushi. You simply can’t feel bad about having a handful of psychotic super-villains trying to destroy your home-town when you have things named Agedashi and Katsu dancing around on your plate can you?

Catwoman   I’m initially inclined to say mouse here, but I actually think that Catwoman is more of a ‘curl up on the couch with a bowl of Laksa‘ kind of girl. Sure she’s sexy and dangerous, but when she’s finished toying with Batman my guess is that all she wants to do is take off all that leather, put her feet up, turn on the tv and watch reruns of CSI:New York. Am I right?

If you spent the whole day fighting crime and protecting the citizens of Earth, what would you order to re-energize?

No magic required, April finds her takeaway superhero

Our guest post today comes from April who creates the wonderful Sydney food blog Polkadots and Chopsticks.

You know after a long day at work, 90% of the time you just want to come home and have dinner appear from nowhere. Well unfortunately I didn’t get a letter when I turned 10 telling me I’m a wizard, so I’ve had to find alternatives to dinner with no effort.

So the answer? Take away!

Satay Chicken Skewers

But like everyone else I’m so bored of generic pizza delivery. Discovering Delivery Hero though has opened so many more options. I’m particularly partial to Asian cuisines. First appearances were great, the site runs smoothly and the design is modern and fun, making the only difficult part of the whole process trying to decide what to eat! Surf’s up with Delivery Hero

SurfCampDeliveryHeroStanding

Our faithful Delivery Hero hit the beach with a third of the team to brush up on his skills.

In a bit of good old team building we headed to the south coast of New South Wales, set up camp and even saw a giant sting ray! With our instructor at hand, first up we practised the basic skills of getting up and standing on the board – on dryland.

Once we hit the water,  Delivery Hero showed the rest of us how it was done, while Fabian had a rather unique experience.  After falling off his board, he managed to haul himself back up and ride it sitting for 10 metres – the only catch was, he was going backwards!

Thanks to Australian Surfing Tours for a great time!

Heroes Christmas Party

Last night here at Delivery Hero we celebrated our first Christmas party as a company- officially kicking off the festive season and giving us the chance to celebrate the hard work and effort everybody has put in the last few months.

Christmas hats, canapés and cocktails were the order of the evening, but never missing a chance to stamp our own ‘Delivery Hero style’ on the night- the superhero costume was of course on hand for photo ops.

It was a fantastic night all round, the girls looked fantastic (as usual!) and some of the guys were even convinced into suiting-up for the occasion.  And just to prove how awesome our team is- every single person was back in the office this morning getting stuck back into making sure our hungry customers are kept happy (with only a few more yawns).

As sappy as it sounds, the best present we got this Christmas is that Delivery Hero continues to grow from strength to strength thanks to the close team we have built and the efforts of every single dedicated person onboard-and we are just getting started! (Awww, group hug?)
Check out our photos- I mean seriously, have you ever seen a more awesome group of people!

This week in the Delivery Hero AU Office…

One Delivery Hero customer was so impressed by our services that they felt they had to tell us in writing. Their enthusiastic letter was duly placed on the fridge providing us with some great motivation for the week:

Meanwhile, Roberto and Barbora honed their creativity by becoming filmmakers for the day and making a Delivery Hero youtube clip:

Finally, Xavier showed what a true superhero really looks like. I for one would like my food to be delivered by this man!

Taking it to the Streets

It’s no secret that we love this city. Especially when we start getting summery days like we have had over the weekend and Sydney starts to feel like the beachy, sunscreen-smelling, pavement sizzling city it is always meant to be.

The only problem is that sometimes we are up here in Delivery Hero headquarters working so hard we forget there are these beautiful days happening outside without us.

That’s when we think “wouldn’t it be great if we could work outside for the day.”

Well that’s exactly what we are doing!

We are taking Delivery Hero to the streets- letting people know who we are and putting some faces to our name.

And what better faces to have hitting the CBD than our street-team (Cameela, Tom and Christina) who had a great time last Friday getting their street marketing campaign on and taking more than a few photos with tourists, kids and adults alike!

Keep an eye out for them the next few weeks around the city and make sure you come and say Hi.

Even better- you can come and have your photo taken with our resident South American Superman (Ladies-he will also serenade you in Spanish if requested*) and you might find yourself up on our Facebook Page as our Hero of the Week.

* I haven’t told him about this part yet.

Holding out for a Hero

So now that we have gotten to know each other a little, I thought now would be a perfect time to introduce you to another person who is very special to us here at Delivery Hero.

He’s someone you will probably be seeing a lot more of in the future-and before this starts to sound far too much like I’m setting you up on a blind date, without further adieu-here is Delivero!

Pretty cool looking dude right? How can you not love a hero who is all about food and dressing up in tight Lycra suits!

As an added bonus, our Delivero is not like those other lame heroes who live some half life with an alter-ego, wearing thick framed glasses and acting timid- this guy is hero to the bone!

Have I gone on too much? It’s not like I have a slight crush on a cartoon or anything…but just look at this man!
